Experience

Teresa is a warm and compassionate clinician with a passion for supporting the mental health and well- being of children, teens, and parents through therapy and comprehensive assessments. She has experience working with children and teens presenting with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, emotional and behavioural regulation, learning difficulties, and neurodevelopmental differences (e.g., autism, intellectual disability, ADHD, Tourette’s Syndrome).

In addition, Teresa has received additional learning and training in the area of Health Psychology and has experience supporting individuals and families navigating the complex interplay between physical and mental health. Her work includes supporting youth and families managing chronic pain and illness, medical trauma, somatization, and surgery preparation. Teresa also supports children and families in processing serious illnesses, such as cancer, including grief and loss.

Clinical Approach

Using a strengths-based, client- and family-centred approach, Teresa integrates a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices. Her work is grounded in a trauma-informed lens, recognizing the impact of adverse experiences on development and well-being while prioritizing safety, collaboration, and empowerment throughout the therapeutic process.

Teresa understands that mental health is shaped by biological, psychological, and social factors. She employs a biopsychosocial perspective to holistically understand each child’s unique experience and to guide personalized, evidence-based care.

She strives to create a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings, gain insight into their experiences, and develop skills to thrive.

Teresa completed her Master’s degree at York University, where she is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Clinical Developmental Psychology.
